Duane Walters age 72, of Mitchell, SD died Monday, June 1, 2015 at Firesteel Healtcare Center. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Will Funeral Chapel with burial at the Bridgewater Cemetery, Bridgewater, SD. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Will Funeral Chapel. Duane Walters, son of Joseph and Adeline (Thiltgen) Walters, was born July 17, 1942 in Plankinton, SD. He grew up and received his education in Stickney, SD. Duane was employed at the Mitchell Daily Republic Newspaper for several years. He also volunteered at Firesteel Healthcare Center and was named volunteer of the year in 2002 there. He loved to walk, tell stories and jokes. Duane was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the James Valley Senior Citizens Center. Survivors include two sisters, Jan (Joel Welch) Walters, Holland, MI, Margaret (Walters) Hyma, Holland, MI; a brother, Zack Walters, Sioux Falls, SD; an aunt, Ada (Walters) Koemer, Bridgewater, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents; a brother and sister in infancy and a brother-in-law, Brian Hyma
