On Wednesday, April 7, 2021 Douglas Arthur Goehring, loving husband and father of 3 children passed away at the age of 72.  A memorial service will be 11:00 am on Monday, April 12, 2021 at the Downtown United Methodist Church.  Visitation will be from 3:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Will Funeral Chapel.  Internment will be in Servicemen's Memorial Cemetery.

Doug was born on December 14, 1948 to Alton and Beulah (Daugherty) Goehring in Parkston, SD.  He attended and graduated from Delmont High School in 1967.  He attended a year at Southern State College in Springfield, worked for a few months in West Bend, WI and was then drafted into the US Army in 1969.  He served for 1 year in Vietnam and returned to the states in November 1970.  On December 12, 1970 he was united in marriage to Ella Mae Bogenhagen in Delmont, SD.  They were married 50 years.  They moved to Ft. Knox, KY for 6 months for Doug to complete his military duty.  Three children were born to this marriage.

After being discharged from the Army, they moved to Mitchell where Doug started his career at Coca-Cola.  He was employed there for 42 years, retiring in 2014.  His career started in the warehouse and he worked his way up the chain, becoming General Manager of Coca-Cola Botting Co. of Central SD.  Doug enjoyed working with youth and was able to do this through Coke.  Rather than hand out donations, he thought they would benefit more if they earned money so he would promote pop drives, food stands, etc.  He also enjoyed working with DWU and SDSU.  After retirement he worked for Mitchell Park and rec and Caldwell Park for 3 years, hauled seed corn and drove cars for Iverson Chrysler.

Doug enjoyed service organizations and started by joining Jaycees.  He served as director, president and was Jaycee of the year in 1981.  He joined the Exchange Club of Mitchell in 1983.  Doug's accomplishments in the Exchange were District Exchangite of the year for Mitchell and Dakota Territory in 2003, President of the Exchange for 3 years, and District Club President of North and South Dakota in 2005.  He was instrumental in raising money to bring the Flags of Honor display to Mitchell for the Exchange.  He was also a member of the Am. Legion and the VFW.  Doug enjoyed fishing, hunting with his sons and son-in-law, pheasant hunting with the Watertown crew and with Dr. Pepper pheasant hunters (good laughs and times were certainly shared), traveling, along with camping, snowmobiling and UTV exploring.  He enjoyed college football and basketball and the Mitchell Kernels.  He was so proud and loved spending time with his children, Cory, Cary and Cathy and their spouses as well as his 5 grandchildren.

Doug enjoyed people and was thankful for each and everyone he met.  He loved God, his family, friends, flying the American flag and what it stood for and serving his country.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, his children, Cory (Kris) Goehring, Cary (Naomi) Goehring, Catherine (Derek) Edblom, brother, Curtis (Joyce) Goehring, sister, Barbara (Leonard) Geidel, and his five grandchildren, Garret Goehring, Grant Goehring, Grace Goehring, Ella Edblom and Emma Edblom.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be directed to the Downtown United Methodist Church, the Exchange Club or LifeQuest.
