Dorothy M. ONeal, 83, of Mitchell, died November 28, 2006 at her home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, December 1, at the Grace Reformed Church in Mitchell with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery, Alexandria. Dorothy was born on December 3, 1922, to Hillar and Lou Ella (Carpenter) Schumacher at Alexandria, SD. She grew up and graduated from Alexandria Public School in May, of 1940. She worked for her parents in the telephone office in Alexandria, and also worked for the US Government in the Selective Service Offices in Alexandria and Mitchell. She later worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Mitchell for nearly thirty years. Dorothy was also a private piano teacher for several years. She married Wilbur ONeal on June 13, 1970 in Mitchell. They made their home in Mitchell. She was a member of the Grace Reformed Church. She is survived by two sisters: Delores Dougherty, Evansville, Indiana, and Amy Smith, Henderson, Michigan; one brother, John Schumacher, of San Jose, California; two sisters-in-law, Vera Everhart, of Jordan, Minnesota, Faye Pearson, of Mitchell and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1996, her parents and a brother, Lawrence.
