Dorothy Ettswold, age 81, of Letcher, died March 9, 2005 at the Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday at the Congregational Church in Letcher. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM on Sunday at the Will Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in rural Letcher. Memorials can be directed to the Arthritis Foundation or the American Legion Auxiliary in Letcher. Dorothy was born on November 5, 1923 in Jarbalo, KS to George and Ella (Jennin) Kelly. She grew up and attended school in Jarbalo and graduated from high school in 1941. On April 4, 1942 she was united in marriage with A.C. Ettswold in Leavenworth, KS. The couple made their home on a farm in the rural Letcher area. Dorothy operated the Corner Cafe from 1954 to 1965. She then sold Stanley Home Products for a while before being employed at the Lawler Caf. After retirement the couple enjoyed wintering in Florida for several years. Dorothy enjoyed having a good time, and spending time with all her grandchildren. There was never a stranger in Dorothys life, everyone was welcome in their home and the caf. Grateful for having shared her life are her four children: Diana Campbell and her husband, Edward of Pierre SD, Delores Pete Mutziger and her husband LeRoy of Savage MN, Polly Von Eschen and her husband, Thomas of Rockford MI, and Bus Ettswold and his wife Melanie of Letcher SD; 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband A.C. in 2001; 2 brothers: Harold and Lloyd and two sisters: Lila and Nellie.
