Dorothy Ann Bender, age 77, of Mitchell, SD, died Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at her home with loved ones at her side. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the Mitchell Wesleyan Church with burial at a later date at Graceland Cemetery in Fulton, SD. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, March 14, 2014 at the Mitchell Wesleyan Church with a prayer service beginning at 7:30 PM. Arrangements are under the direction of the Will Funeral Chapel. Dorothy Ann Cummings, daughter of Ray and Marie (Shade) Cummings, was born August 26, 1936 in Alexandria, SD. She attended school in Alexandria, SD. Dorothy was united in marriage with Melvin Bender on March 9, 1952 at the First United Methodist Church in Mitchell, SD. They lived in Fulton for several years and moved to Mitchell in 1954. They were blessed with six children. Dorothy was well known as a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant. She was promoted to Sales Director in 1993 and remained active until her death. Blessed and thankful for sharing her life are her husband, Melvin, Mitchell, SD; four daughters, Cheryl (Dennis) Kunkel, Mitchell, SD, Lynette Bender, Sioux Falls, SD, Dawn Bender, Oklahoma City, OK, Peggy (John) Rassel, Fulton, SD; eleven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two sisters, Beverely Cummings and Nadine Cummings, both of Sioux Falls, SD; and her beloved pet, Angel. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sons, Jerry and Mike; her brothers, Dale and Francis Cummings; her sisters Darlene (Meier) Boyd, Betty Mountain, Phyllis (Zirpel) McHone and Shirley in infancy. Our Lord Jesus Christ received a very special gift on this day and our world as we know it will never be the same.
