Donna J. Kingsbury, age 77, of Letcher, SD died Sunday October 19, 2008 at her residence. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Thursday at the Letcher Community Church in Letcher, SD with burial at Westlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM.

Donna J. Goudy, daughter of Edmund and Gertrude (Watzenhauer) Goudy, was born May 18, 1931 in Artesian, SD. She moved with her family to Illinois in 1941. In 1945 the family returned to Mitchell, where Donna attended Notre Dame High School for one year. She moved back to Artesian in 1946 and graduated from Artesian High School in 1949.

Donna was united in marriage with Arvin Kingsbury on September 28, 1950 in Letcher, SD. The couple made their home on a farm northeast of Letcher. They continued to farm near Letcher for several years. Donna loved to help on the farm, rounding up cattle or bailing hay. In earlier years she worked as a flag person on road construction and as a waitress at the Brig.

Donna was very active in the Letcher community. She served on the centennial committee, the local PTA, a life guard at the Letcher Swimming Pool and the Democratic Chairperson for Sanborn County. Donna wrote an article for the Sanborn County Journal for several years. She was very involved in her grandkids life's, attending their school activities or chauffeuring the grandkids.

Grateful for having shared her life are her three sons, Randy (Carmen) Kingsbury, Littleton, CO, Dennis (Barb) Kingsbury, Vermillion, SD, Kevin (Lynette) Kingsbury, Letcher, SD; 12 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; a brother, Gary (Pat) Goudy, Artesian, SD; a sister, Bette (John) Wallman, Madison, MN; a sister-in-law, Bethel Delvaux, San Diego, CA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arvin on November 27, 2006; a son, Kurt on August 10, 1979; a grandson, Jim Gerhardt; her parents; and two infant brothers.
