Donna Jean Farris, age 88, of Mitchell, SD died Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Edgewood Memory Care in Mitchell, SD. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at the Will Funeral Chapel with burial at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at the Will Funeral Chapel.

Donna Jean (Johnson) Farris, daughter of Harry and Bertie (Olfson) Johnson, was born January 22, 1933 in Charles Mix County, SD. As a young child she moved with her family to Mitchell, SD. Donna received her education in Mitchell, graduating from Mitchell High School in 1951. After her schooling she moved to Sioux City, IA where she was employed at a record store.

Donna was united in marriage with Gene Farris on December 22, 1956 in Sioux City, IA. The couple made their home in Sioux City, IA. Gene was serving in the US Air Force and the family made their home where he was stationed including Denver, CO, Guam, Ellsworth AFB (Rapid City, SD), Offutt AFB (Omaha, NE), Washington DC; and England. After his honorable discharge in the early 1970's, the family made their home in Mitchell.

While in Mitchell, Donna was employed at Feinsteins, Cole's Clothing Store and the Tumbleweed. She retired in 1990 to help with her grandchildren.

She enjoyed gardening, reading, walking, dancing, cooking and working in the yard.  Donna especially loved time she spent with her two grandchildren.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Gene Farris, Mitchell, SD; her son, Rick (Karen) Farris, Mitchell, SD; two grandchildren, Eric (Ashley Vejvoda) Farris, Auburn, NE and Lauren (Levi Peters) Farris, Lincoln, NE.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Lawrence, Delmer and Willis; three sisters, Margaret, Harriet and Gelene.
