Donald "Jack" Case age 92, of Mitchell died Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Thursday, May 26, 2016 at the Will Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery with military rites.

Donald "Jack" Case, son of Merle and Margaret (Schneider) Case was born on January 31, 1924 in Letcher, SD. He grew up and attended school in Letcher and graduating from Letcher High School. After his schooling Jack entered the US Army on September 30, 1944 which he served for two years in WWII, he was wounded in Okinawa and received a Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged in 1946 and moved to Illinois.

On May 25th, 1946 he was united in marriage to Doris Hickman in Loomis, SD. They moved back to South Dakota in 1951 where he farmed until they moved into Mitchell in 1965. Jack was a plumber for Sheesley Plumbing and Heating for 19 years, after retiring from Sheesley's for two years he worked for the City of Mitchell.

In his free time he enjoyed gardening, watching the squirrels and birds in his backyard, and any sports game on TV, especially baseball.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Doris of Mitchell, SD; five children Warren (Karen) Case, Dwight (Jeanne) Case, Marion (Tina) Case, Janice (Dave) Williams and Jeannette (Jon) Roeder; 59 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, 3 brothers Tom, Bill and Ray Case; 1 sister Betty Schuster.
