Don S. Freeman, 92, of Ethan, died August 2, 2004 at the Firesteel Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Friday, at the First United Methodist Church in Ethan. Burial will follow at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Ethan. Visitation will be from 6-8PM Thursday at the Will Funeral Chapel. Don was born November 12, 1911, at Ethan, SD to Frank and Esther (Meyer) Freeman. He graduated from Ethan High School and farmed. He married Ruth Tanner on November 23, 1933, at Ethan. He farmed the family farm until his retirement and moved to Parkston in 1987. He has been a resident of the Firesteel Healthcare Center for three years. He loved to rollerskate, play pool, dance and hunt and fish. They spent the winters in Brownsville, Texas for seven years. He is survived by his children: Jim Freeman, Mitchell; Dick Freeman and wife, Lavonne, Conroe, Texas; Carol Freeman, Minneapolis, Minnesota; Larry Freeman and wife, Twyla, Iowa City, Iowa; Mel Freeman and wife, Jean, Ethan; twelve grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren; brother, George Freeman, Ethan, SD; sisters: Dorothy Beatty, Hudson, Florida and Phyllis Kunze, Alpena, SD; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth in 1993; his parents, brother, Edwin, sister, Frances Wittstruck and two brothers in infancy.
