Don Lyle Fitzler, age 83, of Mitchell, SD passed away Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Firesteel Healthcare Center. Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at First Lutheran Church with burial at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM 7:00 PM Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM.

Don Fitzler was born March 29, 1936 in Yankton, SD to Herbert and Grace (Bordewyk) Fitzler. Don had an identical twin brother Dean, who passed away just 38 days before him.

Don lived with his family in Springfield until moving to Mitchell in 1941. He attended school in Mitchell, graduating with the class of 1955. He spent six years serving in the National Guard. He began working at Kress Drug in 1953 and later worked for the Minneapolis Star Tribune and finally the Daily Republic, retiring after 29 years in 1998.

On March 16, 1957 he was united in marriage with his high school sweetheart, Donna Asper. They celebrated 62 years of marriage this past March. Don and Donna raised four children, all with "D" names. Dawn, DeeDee, DaNette and Dustin. They have 10 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He always made sure they knew that "he loved the ground they walked on".

Many family vacations and happy memories were made at the 3D deer camp in Custer, SD, the cabin he built with brother Dean and Uncle Delbert. They will celebrate their 50 ^th deer camp this year. Hunting and fishing meant a lot to Don and he enjoyed teaching the grandchildren about shooting a gun, hunting and fishing.

Don loved watching the Old Western movies and was a member of the NRA, Moose Lodge and First Lutheran Church.

Don is survived by his wife Donna, daughters Dawn (Mike) Swalve, Albert Lea, MN, DeeDee (Glenn) Murtha, Mitchell, SD, DaNette (Curt) Bauer, Deadwood, SD and son Dustin (Michelle), Ethan, 10 grandchildren, Tyler (Emily) Freeman, A.J. (Sarah) Bauer, Blake Bauer, Cami (Kyle) Bussmus, Cassi Murtha, Jill (Randy) Larson, Ty (Larissa) Fitzler, Clay Pateneaude, Tyson Murtha, Paige Fitzler, four great grandchildren, Asher Freeman, Rowan Bauer, Beau Bauer and Hayden Larson. A sister, Vicki (Rod) Rearick, Sioux Falls, brother-in-law, Denny Asper, Kallispell, MT, sister-in-law, Kathy Fitzler, Sioux Falls and cousin Jack (Roxanne) Fitzler, Parkston.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law, Arnold and Stella Asper, brothers, Dean and Larry.
