Dolores Sibson, 93, passed away Monday, December 9, 2024 at Firesteel Health Care in Mitchell, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Holy Family Catholic Church; visitation will begin one hour prior. Burial will be in Servicemen's Cemetery.

Dolores was born May 16, 1931 to Henry A. and Alvina (Dvorak) Gau at their home in Armour SD. They moved to a farm west of Ethan in 1938 where she attended Tobin 18 and 17 country schools. She graduated Ethan High School in 1948 and was then employed with National Life Insurance in Mitchell.

On May 2, 1951 she was united in marriage to Leo F. Sibson at Holy Family Church in Mitchell. They began living on the east coast while Leo was serving In the US Navy during the Korean war. Starting in 1955 the couple lived on their farm near Mitchell where they raised three children. After 35 years of farming and back grounding calves they retired in 1990. Leo passed away in 2012. She remained on the farm until moving to Mitchell in 2022.

Dolores enjoyed her family, playing cards, crocheting and gardening. She was a 7 year 4-H member, junior leader and graduate. As a Mom she was a 4-H leader and involved in Extension.

She is survived by her three children: Steven (Kathy) Sibson of Mitchell, SD, Michael (Sue) Sibson of Howard, SD, and Lynette (Gary) Nutter of Howard, SD. Six grandchildren: Scott (Amanda) Sibson, Laura Sudenga, Shannon (Joe) Marshall, Christopher (Joanie) Nutter, Stephanie (Gavin) Stevens, and Matthew (Taylor) Nutter. Along with nine great grandchildren: Julia, Jarsley and James Sibson, Sean and Sophia Sudenga, Natalie and Brooklyn Marshall, Brady and Kayleigh Nutter. Brothers Jerome Gau and Gene (Darlene) Gau and a brother-in-law David (Joyce) Sibson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 60 years, sister Lavalle and brother-in-law Pat Weber, sisters in law Margaret (Bill) Pierson, Jean (Duane) Danielson, Elsie (Leo) Hemmer, a brother-in-law Herb (Georgie) Sibson and her granddaughters husband Mark Sudenga.
