Obituary

Dolerous Dolly Elaine Niles, age 86, of Plankinton, died September 8 at the Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday at the Methodist-Presbyterian Church in White Lake. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Sunday at the church in White Lake. Burial will be in the White Lake Public Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Will Funeral Chapel. She was born on September 13, 1918 at Storla, SD to John and Mae (Thompson) Scott. She graduated from Letcher High School. She attended Business College in Rapid City and worked for Triple A. She also worked in Washington, San Francisco and Rhode Island. She married Andrew Bun Niles on March 19, 1943 at Providence, RI. After Buns discharge, they ranched northwest of Plankinton. Bun died in 1979 and she stayed on the ranch until 1996 when she moved into an apartment in Plankinton. Dolly was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She loved baking and cooking for her family, raising her boys and enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed playing the piano and keeping up with news and current events. She is survived by five sons: John and wife, Pam, Plankinton, SD; Chuck and wife, Jo, Tea, SD; Mylan D.D. and wife, Joan, Sioux Falls, SD; Randy and friend Saundra, Reva, SD; and Richard and wife, Patty, Burke, SD; four grandchildren: Billy Niles and wife, Cheryl, Scott Niles and friend, Sheila Quiring, Susan Benney and husband, Tom, and Dan Niles and wife, Kely; four great grandchildren, Brianna, Taylor, Julia and Colton, sister-in-law, Elaine Scott, Saunemin, IL and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband on July 4, 1979, son Earl Skip in 1982; two brothers: Wayne in 1994, and Clayton in 2003 and his wife, Verine in 2004.
