Obituary

Diane Fendrich, 80, passed away in her home on September 16, 2023, with her children by her side. A Memorial Mass will be at 10:30 AM Friday, September 29th, 2023 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mitchell. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a 6:30 Rosary, Thursday, September 28th, 2023 at Will Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Diane Margaret (Dubbelde) Fendrich was born September 6th, 1943, to Leo and Minnie (Bramstedt) Dubbelde of Larchwood, IA.

Diane was raised on a farm five miles west of Larchwood IA. She went to a country school not far from the family farm. She attended St. Mary's High School and graduated in 1961.

On April 27th, 1963 she was united in marriage to Gary Fendrich. They made their home on a farm four miles south and two east of Salem, SD. That was their home for 32 years. With this union she was blessed with two children, a daughter, Jacqueline and a son, Eugene.

She moved to Omaha, NE and worked at Ballantyne of Omaha and the School system until 2006 when she moved back, to Mitchell, SD and retired to be closer to her children and grandchildren.

She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Mitchell. In her spare time she liked to sew, play many card games and spend time with her family and friends, but really loved playing with her great grandchildren.

Survived by her children, Jacqueline (Pat) Murray of Alexandria, SD, Eugene Fendrich of Mitchell, SD; her 4 grandchildren, Chris (Jamie) Murray of Alexandria, SD, Matt Murray of Phoenix, AZ, Amanda (Billy) Grochow of Mitchell, SD; Nicholas (Miranda) Fendrich of Sioux Falls, SD; 6 great grandchildren Jeremy Murray, Jackson Murray, Lauryn Grochow, William Grochow, Nora Fendrich and Michael Murray. Two brothers, Paul (Donna) Dubbelde of Valley Springs, SD, and Donald (Louise) Dubbelde of Larchwood, IA; one sister, Janet Ostronic of Omaha, NE and one brother-in-law, Robert Harms of Brookings, SD, along with many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Shirley Harms; a brother -in-law, George C. Ostronic; a niece Darla Dubbelde and a great-nephew Axel Ostronic.
