Obituary

DeWayne "Butch" Titze, age 78, of Mitchell, SD died Thursday, July 25, 2013 at his home under hospice care. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Monday, July 29, 2013 at First Lutheran Church with burial at Hillside Cemetery, rural Dimock, SD. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM DeWayne "Butch" Titze, son of Walter and Martha (Laschette) Titze, was born August 9, 1934 in rural Davison County, SD. He grew up in the Stickney area and attended school there. DeWayne moved with his family to Virginia for a short time before returning to the Stickney area. While back in Stickney he helped on the family farm. DeWayne was united in marriage with Arlue Buehler on June 16, 1956 in Sunnyside, WA. He entered the US Army on January 2, 1957 and served in Germany. He was honorably discharged on December 23, 1958 and returned to Stickney. In Stickney, DeWayne was employed at the Stickney Machine Shop. In the early 1970's they moved to Mitchell, SD where he was employed at UBC, then at Owatonna, then at Golden Goat Recycling and Mitchell Concrete. DeWayne was then employed with the City of Mitchell at the Landfill, continuing to work there for 14 years at the scaleman. He retired in 2000. In his retirement he enjoyed playing cards, hunting, and fishing. DeWayne played the steel guitar for many years in the band Steel Blue. He was a member of First Lutheran Church since, 1974, the Moose Lodge and the NRA. Grateful for having shared his life are his four children, Leon Titze, Vermillion, SD, Colleen (Tim) Morrison, Brazoria, TX, Robert Titze, Mitchell, SD, Crystal Morgan, Mitchell, SD; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth (Charlene) Titze, Stickney, SD, Lennis (Sandy) Titze, Plankinton, SD; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlue; a son, Wayne Titze; three daughters, Debra, Deloris and Dora; his parents; and a sister in infancy.
