Devona Finkenbiner age 93, of Mitchell, SD died Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at Avera Brady Health and Rehab. Mass of Chirstian Burial will be 10:00 AM Monday, June 9, 2025 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with burial at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Ethan, SD. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Sunday June 8, 2025 at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 6:00 PM.
Devona Finkenbiner, daughter of Fred and Anna (Nuebel) Jung, was born October 1, 1931 in Dimock, SD. She attended grade school in Dimock and graduated from Parkston High School in 1950. After her schooling, Devona was employed at St. Joseph's Hospital from 1951 to 1956.
Devona was united in marriage with Gene Finkenbiner on April 10, 1956 in Dimock, SD. The couple made their home on a farm near Ethan, SD. After Gene's death in 1962, she moved to Mitchell. While in Mitchell, Devona was employed as the office manager at Tobin Clinic for 35 years.
Devona enjoyed gardening, playing cards and games, bowling, traveling and spending time with her family and friends. Her greatest pleasure was raising her four children.
She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and the Altar Society. Devona was the Chairperson for the funeral committee at the church for many years. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary.
Grateful for having shared her life are her four children, Chuck (Peggy) Finkenbiner, Mitchell, SD, Bob (Kriss) Finkenbiner, Libertyville, IL, Jim (Micki) Finkenbiner, Omaha, NE, Janet (Gary) Tschetter, Doland, SD; grandchildren, Ashley (Joe) Graves, Tara (Josh) Miller, Mallory (Jeremy) Pugh, Matt (Julie) Finkenbiner, Taylor Finkenbiner, Lexi Finkenbiner, Haley (Ryan) Damm, Brianna (Colin) Linford, Alli (Quincy) Score; great grandchildren, Hattie, Eliza, Joey, Teddy Graves, Ami and Raya Miller, Lincoln and Lane Pugh, Deacon and Zoey Finkenbiner, Stratton and Kyler Damm; her sister, Jackie Schnabel, Mitchell, SD; her brother, Don Jung, Denver, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene; her sisters, Lorraine (Gene) Weber, Lou Ann (Wally) Eimers, Celine (Fran) Fergen, Betty (Slyvester) Puetz, sister in law, Meredith Jung, and brother in law Havey Schnabel.
