Denny Deinert, 67, of Mitchell went to the Lord on Tuesday, April 12, 2016.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at First Lutheran Church in Mitchell. Burial will be immediately after the funeral at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Friday night at the church.
Denny was born on August 10, 1948 to Walter and Corrine Deinert. He graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1966. After high school, Denny attended and graduated with his degree in mechanical engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology in 1970. Denny worked for Firestone Tire Company as an engineer in Akron, OH, following graduation, for one year, until returning home to help with the family farm after the sudden death of his father. Denny served as the Mitchell City Engineer and ultimately engineered for the last 35 years with Tessiers. Denny enjoyed engineering so much that he retired in August 2014, only to return to work two days after retirement.
On November 29, 1975, Denny married his soul mate, Linda Ringling, in Platte, SD. They were married for 40 years and raised their three children in Mitchell. Denny loved his family, traveling with his wife, friends, and family, and tailgating at Gopher football games. In recent years, Denny enjoyed attending the Summit League Basketball Tournament and planning trips with his family and friends.
Denny enjoyed serving on the Mechanical Engineering Industrial Advisory Committee at the School of Mines for the last five years. He was active in ASHRAE, an engineering society, serving as the past president and on the past president's board. Denny's faith was also very important to him. He has been a member of First Lutheran Church for the past 40 years serving in various positions including Council President, Sunday school and confirmation teacher, and most recently as a member of the Church Property Committee.
Denny especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved being a parent and grandpa. He wore those titles proudly. Anyone who knew Denny would describe him as one of the kindest, most loving, and caring men they met.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; two sons, Ryland (and Tara) Deinert of Sioux City, IA, and Chad (and special friend Jessica Johnson) Deinert of Minneapolis, MN and daughter Tara (Ryan) Syverson of Ankeny, IA; three grandchildren, Ryker and Eisley Syverson and Rance Deinert; two sisters, Sharon (Robert) Scott of Mitchell and Deb (Al) Zens of Mount Vernon; two brothers, Ron (Pat) Deinert and David (Connie) Deinert of Mount Vernon; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Denny was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and his mother and father-in-law.
