Obituary

Dennis Dean Dey age 63, of Wessington Springs, SD died Monday, March 21, 2011 at Weskota Memorial Nursing Home in Wessington Springs, SD. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Friday, March 25, 2011 at the Will Funeral Chapel in Mitchell. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 PM at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 7 PM. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery in Mitchell.

Denny D. Dey, son of Fred and Marjorie (Warnke) Dey, was born in Plankinton, SD on March 27, 1947. He attended Way Country School, Lane Town School and graduated from Lane High School in 1965. While in high school, Denny played basketball and softball. After his schooling, Denny enlisted in the South Dakota National Guard and was stationed in Woonsocket, SD. He worked construction job and later farmed on the family farm south of Wessington Springs, SD. On the farm he raised Black Angus cattle and for a short time owned the Red Dog Saloon in Wessington Springs. Denny farmed until 2009 when poor health forced his retirement. He continued to live on the farm until October of 2010 when he moved to an apartment in Wessington Springs.

In his younger years he enjoyed softball, bowling and hunting.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the American Legion both in Wessington Springs.

Grateful for having shared his life are his brother, Larry F. Dey, Wessington Springs, SD; two sisters, Sharon Lee (Richard) Cutler, Sioux Falls, SD and Donna Jean (Doyle) Arbogast, Glenwood, IA; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Carol Ann Marschner.
