David A. Ditter was born December 11, 1940 to Arnold and Margaret (Becker) Ditter in Mitchell, SD. David passed away on October 9, 2016, at the age of 75, after a courageous battle with cancer. He grew up and lived outside of Farmer, SD his entire life. David graduated from Farmer High School in 1958.

David was a member of the South Dakota National Guard and was honorably discharged in 1964, and served on the Edgerton Township Board for 34 years. David was a member of St. John Neumann (St. Peter's) Catholic Church in Farmer, before joining Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Mitchell.

He began farming at the age of 17 and continued until the time of his death. Farming was his work, hobby, and vacation. David especially loved his six grandchildren and the time they spent at the farm together. He also enjoyed following DWU basketball.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sharon, and three children: Tim (Cathy) Ditter, Platte City, MO; Nancy (Todd) Bulson, Inver Grove Heights, MN; and Susan Ditter, Mitchell, SD. Six grandchildren: Corey (fiance, Catie Brown), Doris, Alex, Melissa, Grant and Tessa. Brothers and sisters: Dietta Lassegard, Dennis (Jeanne) Ditter, Don (Wendy) Ditter, Doris (Bob) Wygal, Doug (Peggy) Ditter, Denise (Chuck) Duignan and Dale (Glenda) Ditter. He is also survived by many brothers and sisters-in law, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, a brother, Delvin, and brother-in-law, Ken Lassegard.
