Many amazing cousins, nieces and nephews…

Dave found his soulmate and lifelong partner Jerrie L. Chambers December of 1995. In December of 1996 they began a new journey as man and wife. While life took them apart briefly God said, let no man part what he placed together so they reunited.

Dave loved summer softball with his girls, football and basketball or baseball with his boys, Piano recitals with Amanda, watching Jessica run her cross country and track & field, Melissa's flute and Hailey's clarinet music time, coaching softball and or little league. He took so much pride in being with his kids. His journey's with Lynn to becoming a pilot which was a huge accomplishment for him. In most recent years David realized how precious family was to him and enjoyed walks by the river, being out on the pontoon boat with the grand kids (while watching our "Joey" butterfly try and catch a ride), camping and roasting smores with Hailey, summer bike rides, fishing, and chasing Jordon which kept him busy and "poppa's gloves" made the chase even more exciting…

Dave enjoyed his gatherings with the Mumma Boys (Cousins) or at his sister Carol's house where we could gather and talk of good times or just tease the sisters of what they forgot today.

Dave was always trying to be the prankster with the lamp, or comedian with a good joke. His politics were so important and passionate to him don't get him started unless you had plenty of time for a good debate.

Dave would work all his waking hours if he did not have kids to be with or entertainment. He started his work years at Kmart in Omaha NE. which he enjoyed the overnight shifts doing maintenance mostly so he could set a clock and catch a 15 min nap in a tent camping.

He later went into air-conditioning at Bryant in Omaha NE, where he joked about all the pranks he and Joe got away with.

He then went onto working at Bob Nelson heating and Air in Irvington NE. Dave spent many lunches watching "cops" with Mike or having great debates with Boomer. His proudest moment was when his son Jeremy asked if he could work with him and Boomer hired him. Later Steven came on to the company as well.  Dave loved knowing his boys wanted to follow in his path.

Dave later moved to South Dakota and became the City of Delmont's maintenance man. He remained there for 5 years before deciding he wanted to do something different. Dave found a fitting place for his final journey, in Parkston SD, at Our Home for Children.

There was never a child Dave did not want to help or feel needed a little more love. On many occasions he came home and asked can we adopt one of my co-workers and before you knew it the family camping trips just had alittle bigger family added to it! Dave and Lynn spent his last few years talking of his retirement and all the camping and boating trips they planned to do, and of course he would ask "do you think we should ask a family or a kid in need to join us for a day on the boat?" Dave spoke of how he was blessed with awesome parents but there were things they could not do. He wished so much they were still around so he could share the joys we were having with them. Whenever someone else had little or struggled, he always came to Lynn knowing one way or another they would get what they needed or be included.

Nothing was more important to Dave then his faith, believing in God and following his path. He was proud of each of his kids for taking Catechism classes and joining his church. While temporarily serving as the fill in Pastor at Garden of Gethsemane he was blessed with the privilege to baptize his daughter's Melody Petras and Hailey Petras-Borg, it was a cherished memory he spoke of often. Not every Father is given such an honor and it was truly an honor for him. Both Josh and Jeremy served in the Military and those special trips to see their graduations and have calls the boys in from different states all meant so much to Dave.

Dave always assured Lynn he was not going to leave her even before his final flight. "Go home and get some rest those kids run you ragged – I'll call you when you can pick me up babe" as he gave his special kisses assuring her again like he always did...

However, God again stepped in and said your time here is complete my faithful servant then Dave began his final journey into Heaven. Rest in peace.
