David Dale Andersen April 4, 1942-August 4, 2007 David D. Andersen, 65 of Mitchell, SD entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 4, 2007 with his wife Rose by his side. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 9th from 6-8 p.m. at Will Funeral Chapel, 210 E. Green Drive, Mitchell, SD 57301. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 10th at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church 310 N. Rowley St. Mitchell, SD with burial at Graceland Cemetery with military rites. Dave was born April 4, 1942 in Mitchell, SD to Dale and Evelyn (DuBois) Andersen. After graduating from Mitchell High School, he pursued a degree at Yankton College, transferred to Dakota Wesleyan University and graduated with a degree in Business Administration. He married Jeanette McGee on August 9, 1963. Together, they had four children, Chad, Steve, Jarrett and Dan. She entered into eternal rest on July 6, 1979. On October 31, 1981, Dave married Rose (Berreth) Brick. They became a family that also included James and Barb. In addition to serving in the National Guard, he worked at Dakota Manufacturing, Mitchell Packing, Midwest Horse & Livestock, Andersen Farms, Dakota Acres and Wheatridge Apartments. Even after being diagnosed on April 12, 2007 with pancreatic cancer, Dave continued to manage Wheatridge Apartments, owned by the Van Buskirk Corporation, who encouraged and supported him throughout his illness. He was very dedicated to his job and loved interacting with the tenants. In his youth, Dave enjoyed riding horses and sports especially basketball. This interest continued throughout his life, as he attended nearly every Mitchell Kernel game that he could. He was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church, also faithfully serving as an usher. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Rose, Mitchell, SD; six children Barbara (Daniels) and husband, Craig, South Bend, IN; Chad and wife, Bobbie, San Antonio, TX; James (Brick) and wife, Cristi, Kersey, CO; Stephen and wife, Tracy, Plymouth, MN; Jarrett, Flagstaff, AZ and Daniel and wife, Misti, Flagstaff, AZ. His very special grandchildren include Gina Panico; Kyle and Hailey Andersen; Tyler and Nicole Brick; Hunter, Sawyer and Eli Andersen and Hayden and Colton Andersen. Also surviving are his mother, Evelyn Andersen, brother, Calvin and wife, Sharon Andersen, Mitchell, SD and sister, Roberta and husband, Raymond Rylance, Watertown, SD. Preceded in death by his first wife, Jeanette McGee; father, Dale Andersen and maternal and paternal grandparents.
