Darlene Anna Peterson, daughter of Anton and Margaret (Beiswanger) Goergen was born December 15, 1937, in Mitchell, SD. She grew up on farm south of Woonsocket, SD, where she attended Budde Country School through the eighth grade. Darlene graduated from Woonsocket High School in 1955. After her schooling, she was employed at G.E. Bollinger Attorney at Law. Darlene was united in marriage with Darwin L. Peterson on November 1, 1958, at St. Wilfrid's Catholic Church, Woonsocket, SD. The couple moved to Spencer, SD in 1961, and later Castlewood, SD in 1964, where she started her ceramic and daycare business in her home. They moved to Alexandria in 1980, where she continued her ceramic and daycare business in her home. Darlene retired in 2006, but continued to operate her ceramic business. Darlene enjoyed camping, playing cards and was a member of several card clubs. She enjoyed her family and family gatherings. She was a member of St. Mary of Mercy Catholic Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Women of the Moose and the Red Hats. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Darwin L. Peterson, Alexandria, SD; four children, James (Joy) Peterson, Hill City, SD, Theresa (Tom) Culver, Avon, SD, Mary (Duane) Letcher, Alexandria, SD, Dan Peterson Sioux Falls, SD; six grandchildren Christena (Gregg) Voigt, Andrew Letcher and special friend, Bobbie Richey, Alicia (Drew) Dykstra, Austin Letcher and special friend, Kelsie Somsen, AJ Peterson and special friend, Raven Whitman, and Mitchell Peterson and special friend, Kayla Flack; three great-grandchildren Macy, Jordyn and Brielle Voigt; a brother, Ron (Sharon) Goergen, Woonsocket, SD; a sister, Irene (Bernard) Olinger, Woonsocket, SD; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws; a godson, Michael Peterson.
