Darlene M. Hildebrand, age 74, of Mitchell, SD passed away March 17, 2008. Memorial services will be 10:30 AM Friday at Zion Lutheran Church with burial at a later date. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Thursday at the Will Funeral Chapel. Darlene M. Forst, daughter of William and Lily (Hoffman) Forst, was born January 25, 1934. She grew up in rural Lane, SD and received her education in Lane. Darlene graduated from Lane High School in 1952. While in high school, she received an editorial writing honor for outstanding work in editorial writing. Darlene then attended Dakota Wesleyan University and received her Nursing Degree from the Methodist Hospital. After her graduation, Darlene was employed as a nurse with Dr. Mabee. She was united in marriage with Bruce Hildebrand on October 13, 1957 in Mitchell, SD. Darlene worked part time as a nurse while she raised her children. In 1974 after her children had grown she worked full time as a nurse at the Methodist Hospital. Darlene retired in 1995. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and loved gardening and raising flowers. Grateful for having shared her life are her four daughters, Tami (Gilly) Weiss, Mitchell, SD, Darla (Kevin) Christensen, Bronson, IA, Shari (Lloyd) Vetos, Reno, NV, Jodi (Jim) Bacorn, Wakonda, SD; five grandchildren, Kolt Vetos, Reno, NV, Chase Hildebrand, Wakonda, SD, Bryar Vetos, Reno, NV, Briana Weiss, Mitchell, SD, Sky Weiss, Mitchell, SD; three brothers, Arthur Forst, Wessington Springs, SD, Raymond Forst, Mankato, MN, Edwin (Lilli) Forst, Mankato, MN; a sister, Evelyn (Max) Satterlee, Peru, IA. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Bruce in infancy; a nephew, Gary Forst; and a sister-in-law, Bernice Forst.
