Darleen Meier-Boyd, age 90, of Mitchell, died March 9th, 2012 at Avera Brady Health and Rehab. Funeral services will be Tuesday 10:30 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Mitchell. Visitation with be at the Will Funeral Chapel Monday 6-8 PM, with a prayer service starting at 7 PM. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Darleen Boyd was born in Alexandria, SD on December 6th, 1921 to Ray and Marie (Shade) Cummings. Darleen married Albert W. Meier on January 8, 1941. To this union, three children we born; Sharon, Karon, and Robert. She married Delmer Boyd on January 3, 1981. Darleen was gifted with a talent for painting and enjoyed her crafts. She taught ceramics for many years and as a result, brought home the Best of Show Awards. Her grandchildren spent many hours with her at the craft and ceramic table and Darleen also enjoyed sewing, embroidering and crocheting. Her family was her pride and joy. Every Christmas she made handmade gifts for her grandchildren and then her great-grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters; Sharon Krutsch and Karon (Jon) Davis of Sioux Falls, SD and a son Robert (Linda) Meier of Cheyenne, WY and step-daughter Deb Henriksen of Spearfish. Darleen is blessed with six grandchildren and twelve great- grandchildren. Also three sisters; Beverly Cummings, Nadine Cummings both of Sioux Falls and Dorothy (Melvin) Bender of Mitchell. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Albert Meier and Delmer Boyd, her parents Ray and Marie Cummings, two brothers, Dale Cummings and Francis Cummings. Also by three sisters; Betty Mountain, Shirley Mae Cummings and Phyllis McHone and a step-daughter Kathy Boyd.
