Daniel LaVern Wermers, age 61, of Mitchell, SD passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell, SD. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at the Will Funeral Chapel with burial and military rites at Servicemen's Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at the Will Funeral Chapel.

Dan Wermers, son of LaVern and Lucille (Kloiber) Wermers, was born July 8, 1957 in Parkston, SD. After graduating form Parkston High School in 1975, he entered the Air Force. Dan returned to Parkston after the service and was united in marriage with Sherrie Gaulke on July 6, 1979. He was employed for North Western Bell and Symcom until 1983, and then moved to Ohio. They eventually moved to the Twin City area in 1990, where Dan worked as an IT Engineer for Trace Mountain. Dan and Sherrie moved back to Mitchell to be closer to family in 2001.

Dan enjoyed his Camaro's and Corvette's, spending time in the outdoors, fishing and hunting. He cherished his grandson Jacob and dog Nikki.

Gratefully for having shared his life are his beloved dog, Nikki; his daughter, Stephanie and grandson Jonathon, Eagan, MN; his son, Derek (Anna) and grandson, Jacob, Hallock, MN; his brother, Doug (Peggy) Wermers, Black Hawk, SD; two sisters, Nancy (Rick) Thury, Jamestown, ND, Anna (Brian) Johnsen, Sergeant Bluff, IA; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sherrie; his parents; a brother, Leonard "Chuck" Wermers; two nephews, Mark Wermers and Charles Mark Wermers and a great niece, Adrionna Wermers.
