Dale R. Anderson age 85, of Mitchell, died December 23, 2006 at a Mitchell clinic. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday at First Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 6to8PM Tuesday at the Will Funeral Chapel with burial in Graceland Cemetery. Dale was born on December 13, 1921 on a farm near Woonsocket, SD to Ben and Mary (Olson) Anderson where he attended grade school and was baptized, confirmed into the Lutheran faith. He later moved to a farm between Alpena and Huron where he graduated from Aplena High School. He farmed with his dad until he married Elaine Swanson at Huron on April 2, 1946. He and his wife farmed until December of 1954 and then moved to Letcher where he owned a small business. Dale served on the school board for several years. In 1964 they moved to Mitchell where he learned the carpentry business and built several houses in Mitchell. He was also co-owner of the Mode-O-Day Shop in Mitchell with his wife. Survived by his wife Elaine; one daughter, Judy and husband Steve Schermann of Moville, IA; grandchildren Melissa and husband Roger Frankenstein of Copperas Cove, TX, Brian and wife Alicia Braun of Lake Andes, SD and Brittany Schermann of Moville, IA; great grandchildren Janai, Jacie and Jaeley Braun of Lake Andes, SD and Kayla Frankenstein of Copperas Cove, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Bert and Homer Anderson and a sister Joyce Schmidt.
