Curtis James Meyer, age 37 of Mitchell, SD died Friday, September 4, 2015 in Mitchell, SD. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at the First Reformed Church in Mitchell with burial at Servicemen's Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM. Curtis attended Mitchell Senior High and graduated in 1996. A few days after graduation, he left for the Marine Corp where he proudly served his country from 1996-2000. After leaving the military he stayed in the southern California area and worked various jobs. In the fall of 2008 he moved back to Mitchell and worked with his lifelong friend, Randy. He then got a job at Cabela's in Mitchell, SD, working in the gun department. In 2011 he decided to pursue his dream of becoming a nurse and started attending classes at the University Center in Sioux Falls, SD and also attended classes at Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD. Curtis was an avid hunter, fisher, and he loved to ride his motorcycle. He will be remembered for his kind heart and gentle soul. He loved everyone and would give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it. He touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed, but forever live on in the hearts of all the lives he touched. Curtis is survived by his mother Hon (Gene) Kasselder, Mitchell, SD; father Steve Meyer, Augusta, WI; sister Malisa Meyer (fiancé Jason Heppler), Minot, ND; grandmother Marion Meyer, White Lake; nieces and nephew Paige, Brooklyn, and Dylan, Minot, ND; uncle, Randy (Cindy) Meyer Gillette, WY; uncle Rick Meyer, Sioux Falls, SD; three aunts and one uncle, South Korea; and numerous cousins. Curtis is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, maternal grandmother and grandfather, and one niece.
