Cora Helen Marken age 94 of Mitchell, died May 11, 2007 at Avera Brady Health Center. Funeral services will be 11:00 Am Tuesday May 15 at First Presbyterian Church in Mitchell with burial in Bridgewater City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Monday at the Will Funeral Chapel. Cora Helen was born April 16, 1913 at Humboldt, SD to Cora and Charles Webster. She attended school there and on November 26, 1931, she married George Marken at his parents farm in Bridgewater. They moved to a farm by Emery where they farmed for nine years. Then they moved to a farm by Bridgewater. They sold their farm and moved to a farm near Vienna, SD and lived there 3 years. They lived by Estelline, SD for 1 year before having a farm sale. George Marken worked for a son-in-law, Robert Buehler for 1 year and then they went to Forestburg, SD and worked for the Davis brothers until he passed away in September, 1968. In 1969 Helen moved to Mitchell with her 2 youngest children, Bennie and Sandra. Helen served as an elder in the Presbyterian Church for three years and taught Sunday school and Bible School. Helen is survived by 9 children, Richard James Marken (Shirley) Mitchell, SD, Shirley Ann Buehler (Bob) Emery, SD; Phillip George Marken (Betty), Erwin, SD; Phyllis Jean Anderson, Norwood, MN; Sharon Louise West, Watertown, SD; Betty Jane Steinmetz, Toronto; Vernon Lee Marken Cathedral City, CA; Bennie Marise Marken, Ramona, CA, Sandra Mae Wipf (Gordon), Sioux Falls, SD 27 granchildren, 50 great-granchildren She was preceded in death by her husband, George, two sons; William and Charles Robert, two grandsons; Daniel and Stephen Buehler, one granddaughter Morgan Ann Paulsen, her parents, brothers and sisters.
