Obituary

Connie Palmer, age 55, died March 6, 2006, at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, March 9, at Zion Lutheran Church, Mitchell. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 PM at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 7 :30 PM. There will be a 1:30 PM graveside service at Riverview Cemetery at Chamberlain on Thursday with refreshments and fellowship at the Zion Lutheran Church in Chamberlain immediately following the burial. Connie L. Palmer was born on October 1, 1950 to Harry and Anna (Kilber) Palmer at Mitchell. She was baptized Feb. 15, 1951. Sponsors were Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Stern. She was confirmed May 17, 1964 at Zion Lutheran Church in Chamberlain. She graduated from Chamberlain Public High School in 1968. She attended Northern State College in Aberdeen, SD. Connie was owner and operator of the Fabric Inn in Chamberlain, SD from 1973 to 1977. After that she moved to Gillette, Wyoming where she worked for Exxon and Peabody Coal Company. In 1990, she returned to Mitchell and was employed as bookkeeper at Rozum Motor Company and was on the staff at Zion Lutheran Church. She married Larry Hoeffner on May 1, 2005 at Zion Lutheran Church in Mitchell. She took an active role in the Lords house until the time of her death. Her kind heart and smiling face made her a friend to many. She gave from her heart and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband, Larry Hoeffner, of Mitchell, her father, Harry Palmer, of Chamberlain; two brothers: Rick Palmer of Chamberlain, Randy Palmer, Albuquerque, NM; one sister, Linda Wieser, of Chamberlain; one niece, five nephews and one daughter, Heather Higgins and family. She was preceded in death by her son, Danny Wayne Steckelberg, her mother, Anna H. Palmer and sister, Darlene Palmer. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials.
