Colleen was born on April 26, 1934 in Kimball, SD to Mark and Nora (Wojciechowski) Brennan. She graduated from Kimball High School in 1953 and soon afterward met the love of her life, Ellwyn Nohr. They married on August 18, 1958 at St. Margarets Catholic Church in Kimball. They moved to Las Cruces, NM while Ellwyn was stationed at White Sands Missile Range and later moved to Grand Forks, ND where Ellwyn finished his degree in Civil Engineering. Colleen and Ellwyn moved to Mitchell in 1961 and Ellwyn took a job with the city and later joined the firm that would become Schmucker, Paul and Nohr. Colleen and Ellwyn raised five boys, teaching them the value of faith, family, education, and hard work. She instilled a love of travel in the boys, seeing that they visited 49 states. She was active with the Boy Scouts as a Den Mother for 15 years with four of her boys becoming Eagle Scouts. Colleen was a dedicated wife and grandmother. In addition to managing the home, Colleen drove several years for Ellwyn to attend meetings or consult on projects. She also managed a small office cleaning business, several rental properties, and the family farmland. She was a avid gardener, skilled cook and dearly loved all animals. Colleen was always ready to lend a hand, as all of her neighbors, friends, and children can attest. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Ellwyn, their sons, Brian and wife Diana, of Council Bluffs, IA; Mike of San Francisco, CA; Willy and wife Karen of Rapid City, SD; John and his wife Patty of Sioux Falls, SD; and Jason and his wife Karen of Mitchell; her brother Ray (Dee) Brennan of Scottsdale, AZ; twelve grandchildren, Allison, Matthew, Kayley, Dalton, Elliott, Jon, Tom, Sarah, Caroline, MacKayla, Maryssa, and Josie; along with a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Louis, and a sister-in-law, Shirley Brennan.
