Clifford ?Karl? Van Pelt, age 76, of Fedora, died at his residence March 8, 2006. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Mitchell. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Sunday at the Will Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery at Fulton. Karl was born to William and Hazel (Webb) Van Pelt on July 25, 1929 at Fulton, SD. He grew up and attended school in the Fulton area and spent most of his life on the farm. He served with the United States Marine Corps in the Korean War from 1951-1953. He received the Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. Karl was united in marriage with Gertrude Welchert on April 12, 1951, at Mitchell. They farmed for forty-five years and recently retired. He was a member of the American Legion. Karl enjoyed taking care of his dog, hunting, playing cards and farming. He enjoyed raising their twelve children and being a part of his grandchildren?s lives. He is survived by his wife, Gertrude; his children: Tim and wife, Linda, Mitchell, Jeffrey and wife, Deb, Tripp, Bradley, Fedora, Kariena Eagle Feather and husband, Wyatt, Bridgewater, Karyla Dahl, Spearfish, Toby and Polly, Mitchell, Nicholas and wife, Tina, Plainview, NE, Barron and wife, RaeAnn, Gillette, WY, Kathleen Halter and husband, David, Brandon, Klarissa Halter and husband, Bruce, Bettendorf, IA, Erick, Oelwein, IA, and Kalicia Hoffman and husband, Chris, Colona, IL; twenty-five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, William Ray Van Pelt, four brothers-in-law, Raymond Welchert, Charles Welchert, David Welchert and Daniel Welchert and a sister-in-law, Anna Stratton.
