Clarence M. "PeeWee" Olson, age 89, of Letcher, SD died Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, September 12, 2022 at the Letcher Community Church, Letcher, SD with burial at Westlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Monday, September 12, 2022 at the Letcher Community Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Will Funeral Chapel.
Clarence M. Olson, son of Ole O. and Julia (Knutson) Olson, was born in Artesian, SD on January 17, 1933. He attended school in Forestburg and graduated from Forestburg High School. After his schooling, Clarence worked with his brother Gerald for few years.
Clarence was united in marriage with Sally Ryan on June 1, 1951 in Artesian, SD. He was then employed with the railroad before starting in the well drilling business in 1958. In 1970 Clarence started his well repair and digging business, known as Olson Digging and Pump Repair. He retired in 2010.
In his retirement, Clarence enjoyed doing crafts with his wife Sally. He also enjoyed carpentry work, wood crafts and car and truck restoration. Clarence enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling with his family.
He was a member of the Letcher Community Church and a former member of the Forestburg Lutheran Church. Clarence was also a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge.
Grateful for having shared his life are his two daughters, Marlene Hoffman, Letcher, SD, Linda (Todd) Francis, Mitchell, SD; grandchildren, Eddie (Tiffany) Hoffman, Letcher, Missy Hobaugh, Letcher, Aaron (Angela) Olson, Wolsey, Andrea (Dan) Timblin, Mitchell, Sara (Dave) O'Connor, Mitchell, Amy (Cody) Poppen, Howard, Stephanie (Tony) Keller, Sioux Falls, April (Collin) Spinar, Plankinton; great grandchildren, Michael Hoffman, Tori Hoffman, Landon Hoffman, Bailey (fiancé, Alex Rolling) Olson, Levi Olson, Jay Olson, Charlie Timblin, Frankie Timblin, Paxton Poppen, Kenlie Poppen, Kena Spinar, Pierce Spinar, Greyson Spinar, Kaylie O'Connor, Dylan O'Connor, David Keller, Norah Keller; great great granddaughter, Everleigh Olson; sister-in-law, Colleen Sundstrom, Chester, MD; brothers-in-law, Bob (Hazel) Sundstrom, Sheldon, IA, Mike Sundstrom, Edgemont, SD; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally on January 6, 2022; two sons, Rich and Jay Olson; a grandson, Rob Francis; his parents; a son-in-law, Bill Hoffman; a grandson, Brian Hobaugh; and five brothers, Russell, Gerald, Ed, Calvin and Art.
