Obituary

Clarence M. Huber, 86, of Mitchell, died January 23, 2005 at Firesteel Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be held at United Methodist Church in Alexandria at 10:30 AM Wednesday. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Tuesday at the Will Funeral Chapel with a 7:00 PM prayer service. Burial will be in the Greenhill Cemetery in Alexandria. Clarence was born on the family farm on October 19, 1918 near Alexandria to Henry and Edna (Marke) Huber. He attended school in Farmer, and graduated from Fulton High School. He farmed with his father and helped other people in the community. He married Margaret Cobb on August 14, 1941, at Sioux Falls. The couple made their home on a farm north of Emery, SD where they farmed for 42 years. They retired in 1983, and moved to Alexandria where they lived until 1990. He entered Firesteel Healthcare Center in 1991 and Margaret moved to Mitchell to be closer to Clarence. Clarence was a member of the United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee. He was formerly a board member of the FHA; was a member of the Farmers Union and was active in the Republican Party. He enjoyed reading history books and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; son-in-law, Loren Bittner and wife, Jayne, Sioux Falls; three grandchildren, LuAnn Severson, and husband, Brad, Canton, SD; Linda Scholten and husband, Rob, Ripon, CA; Layne Bittner, St. Paul, MN; four great grandchildren: Jordan and Zachary Severson, Canton and Kaylee and Derek Scholten, Ripon, CA; three step grandchildren, Lavonne Tinklenberg and husband, Ivan, Holland, MN; Tamara Solsma, Sanborn, IA, Sheila, VanDen Brink and husband, Dave, Orange City, IA; nine step great grandchildren, one brother, Morris Huber and wife, Carolynn, Mitchell. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce, an infant son, Roy, sister, Arlene, and a sister in infancy.
