Charles "Chuck" Walz, age 79, of Mitchell passed away Monday, November 28th, 2022 at his home under hospice care. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM on Friday, December 2, 2022, at Will Funeral Chapel with inurnment and military rites following at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM with a prayer service beginning at 6:30 PM Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Will Funeral Chapel with prayer service beginning at 6:30 PM.

Chuck was born at Mitchell on December 19, 1942 to Ellsworth and Martha Walz. He grew up on the family farm North of Plano. He graduated from Plano High School in 1960. Chuck proudly served in the South Dakota Army National Guard. Chuck was united in marriage with Kathryn "Kathy" Morgan on December 4, 1965. They spent their entire married life in Mitchell.

Chuck was employed in the plumbing industry as a Master Plumber the entirety of his professional career. He was well known throughout the state for his skill and expertise pertaining to commercial mechanical contracting. In his retirement, he enjoyed woodworking and hand crafting furniture and toys for his grandchildren.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Kathy, their children Tarisa Jacobs of Mitchell, Amanda Nava and husband Eddie Nava of Mitchell, son Bryan Walz and wife Kathy Christenson of Pierre; grandchildren Colton Jacobs, Mitchell; Aisha Jacobs, Sioux Falls; Faith Jacobs, Mitchell; Diana Nava, EJ Nava, Tina Nava, and Carlos Nava of Mitchell; and grandpuppies Kenzie and Karlie of Pierre.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents Ellsworth and Martha; father and mother in law Frank and Wilma Morgan; brother Kenneth and his wife Verona; brother Sam and his wife Barb; and brother Keith.

The family would like to thank the staff of AsceraCare Hospice for their compassion and care. The family also wishes to thank the Doctors and Nurses of North Central Heart and Avera Heart Hospital, along with the Doctors and staff of Mitchell Clinic, who's skills allowed us many additional years with Chuck
