Charles Vitaska, age 91, of Mitchell, died February 26, 2007 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 6, at the Resurrection Lutheran Church in Mitchell. Visitation will be from noon until the time of the service Friday at the church. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Mt. Vernon. Arrangements are under the direction of the Will Funeral Chapel. Charles was born on April 14, 1915, in Chicago, Illinois to Karol and Amelia Vitaska. He graduated from High school in Chicago and attended college for one year. He married Della Mae Egeland on December 11, 1948 at Chicago. They moved to Riverdale, Illinois and he worked for the University as an Engineer Inspector. They moved to Mitchell in 1993 and was a member of Resurrection Lutheran. He had been battling cancer for twenty-five years. He is survived by his wife, Della, of Mitchell; two sons: Daryll Vitaska and wife, Dianne, Houston, Texas and Charles Vitaska Jr and wife, Brenda, of Surprise, Arizona; a sister, Ann Karpin, DesPlaines, Illinois; two grandchildren, Sara and Matthew and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, John, and two sisters, Vilma Vitaska and Marge Suhajda.
