Chuck Krcil, son of Vit and Anna (Konfrst) Krcil, was born January 5, 1943 in Wagner, SD. He grew up on a farm near Dante and attended grade school at Dante Independent. After his father died in 1958 he farmed with his mother and brother until 1962. He was a member of the National Guard in Wagner and Mitchell from 1963 to 1969. Chuck was united in marriage with Carol Jean Van Emmerik on April 18, 1964 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Salem, SD. He moved to Mitchell in 1963. Chuck worked for South Dakota Concrete until 1965, UBC from 1965 until 1969 and was a route salesman for Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company from 1969 until 1991. He received his GED in 1991. From 1991 to 1994 Chuck was the safety director at Tessier's. He started working at Dakota Sunset in 1994. He retired on December 31, 2007 but continued to work part time at Dakota Sunset. Chuck enjoyed camping, fishing, snowmobiling, Kernel and Tiger basketball and especially enjoyed his grandchildren. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Chuck served on the Holy Spirit School Board, and was an usher and Eucharistic Minister. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Elks, and the Moose Lodge. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of almost 48 years, Carol Krcil, Mitchell, SD; three children, Craig (Susan) Krcil, Mitchell, SD, Chad (Tara) Krcil, Denver, CO, Kristi Burrow, Tea, SD; eight grandchildren, Autumn, Derek, Jason, Kailee, Tate, Madison, Keirstyn and Dylan; a brother, Jerry (Bonnie) Krcil, Mitchell, SD; two sisters, Ann (Dick) Rysavy, Dante, SD, Adeline (Harvey) Fridrich, Tyndall, SD; an aunt, Mildred Holec, Yankton, SD; his sisters-in-law, Sharon (Larry) Johnson, Lake Andes, SD, Karen (Larry) Knudson, Salem, SD, Linda (Tom) Malfait, Waterloo, NE, Joanne (Bob) Bellack, Hartford, SD; his brother-in-law, Denny (Valdona) Van Emmerik, Holt, MO; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Chuck is preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Laddie and a brother, Vit Jr.; his maternal and paternal grandparents; a brother-in-law, Lloyd Horacek; his in-laws, Marvin and Florence Van Emmerik; and nephews, Todd Van Emmerik and Bill Horacek.
