Cecil William Sonne, age 85, of Mitchell, died Friday November 24, 2006 at Firesteel Heathcare Center. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday Will Funeral Chapel with burial at Servicemens Memorial Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Monday at the Will Funeral Chapel. Cecil William Sonne, son of Adolph and Corall (Waite) Sonne was born December 7, 1920 in Cuthbert, SD. He attended country school in the Cuthbert area. Cecil was united in marriage with Mathilda Regynski on May 1, 1943 in Hartington, NE. Cecil entered the US Army in 1945 and served in Pacific Theatre during World War II. He was honorable discharged in 1946 and returned to South Dakota. Cecil was employed doing construction. He later was employed by Bales Continental Livestock Auction, Corsica Livestock Auction, Mitchell Livestock and Palace City Sale Barn. Following this Cecil was employed for the City of Mitchell until his retirement. After his retirement Cecil worked for Green Thumb for five years. Cecil loved to get on his scooter and go. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Mathilda, Mitchell, SD; two sons, Jr. Cecil Sonne (Vicki), Mitchell, SD, Darrell Sonne (Karen), Mitchell, SD; one daughter, Deanna Cain, Mitchell, SD; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Calvin; and one brother, Ruben.
