Caspar Fergen, 91, of Mitchell passed away Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Edgewood Memory Care. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will be in Servicemen's Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Monday, May 31, 2021 at Will Funeral Chapel.
Caspar was born December 22, 1929 to Frank and Eva (Meyer) Fergen in Parkston, SD. He graduated high school then attended DWU. In 1951 Caspar joined the Army. He was stationed at Fort Lenard Wood, Missouri, Big Delta, Alaska; also serving during the Korean War.
Caspar married Joan Wermers on May 31, 1951. The couple adored each other; setting a loving and beautiful example of living life as a couple. He worked at the Amour Creamery for three years and was employed with the Coca-Cola Bottling Company for 33 years as a salesman until retirement.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the Elks Lodge and the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking and going to local sporting events. Caspar loved to spoil his children if any of them said they liked something, especially to eat, he would have that item at his house every time they visited. One of his biggest pleasures was watching his children and grandchildren grow up.
Grateful for having shared his life are his children, Mary Mayer, Sioux Falls, SD, Pamela (Rodney) Heiser, Waite Park, MN, Glen Fergen, Denver, CO, Linda (Curtis) Mueller, Ethan, SD, Lisa (Brad) Newman, Bismark, ND, Casper Fergen, Winter Garden, FL, Amy (Todd) Hohn, Mitchell, SD; brothers, Alfred (Elinor) Fergen, Snohomish, WA, Fran (Celine) Fergen, Parkston, SD; sisters in-law Millie Thury, Sioux Falls, SD, Alice Lichter, Mitchell, SD, Elinor (Dwain) Finkenbiner, Piedmont, SD; brother in-law Lyle (Eunice) Wermers, Virginia Beach, VA; 21 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
Caspar was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, sisters, Evelyn Fechner, Lucetta Arnet, brother, John Fergen and great grandson, Jamie Meyer.
