Carol Stanga, 85, of Mitchell passed away Friday, August 27, 2021 at Avera Brady Nursing and Rehab in Mitchell. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Will Funeral Chapel.
Carol Bell, daughter of Carl Raymond and Nellie Maria (Wittrock) Bell, was born April 29, 1936 in Armour, SD. She was raised and attended school in Armour. She enjoyed going to the Rest Haven roller rink and the Movie House in Armour. Carol worked at the café in Armour, working with her mother. On November 20, 1953 Carol married Roger Olivier to this union four sons were born. Together the couple owned and operated the Olivier Cold Storage in Corsica, SD and farmed hogs west of Corsica for a number of years. Carol also managed the Corsica Dairy Queen.
In 1978 Carol moved to Mitchell where she enjoyed many careers; waitressing at a café, she and her husband, Ted owned and operated the Plaza restaurant, cooking for the Elks and Moose Lodges, working at Mitchell Manufacturing (5 years) and the Super Eight (13 years).
Carol married Ted Stanga on February 23, 1981 in Mitchell, SD. She retired in the late 2000's. Carol enjoyed knitting, sewing, quilting and cooking.
Grateful for having shared her life is her son, Greg (Carol) Olivier, stepchildren, Steven (Ruth) Stanga, Vernon Stanga and Sandy Stanga, Jennifer (Rick) Kolbeck, Timothy (Carla) Stanga, Mary (Darryl) Feterl, Julie (Ron) Kolbeck, sisters, Margaret Reinfeld, Eva Smith, many grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ted, infant son Ruben, son Randy, son Stewart, her parents, sisters Ruth Hoffman, Alice Hohn, Stella O'Connor and one step daughter Karen Stanga.
