Carol Heloise Stainbrook, age 90, of Mitchell, SD died Friday May 8, 2009 at Avera Brady Health and Rehab. Funeral services will be 1:30 PM Monday at the Will Funeral Chapel with burial at the Milltown Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Will Funeral Chapel.
Carol Heloise Stainbrook, daughter of George and Alice (Shearer) Watson, was born December 7, 1918, in Scotland, SD. She grew up on the family farm near Scotland, SD and later moved with her family to the Milltown, SD area. Carol attended country school in rural Milltown, SD. After her schooling, she helped on the family farm.
She was united in marriage with William Stainbrook on September 12, 1939, in Milltown, SD. The couple farmed until 1950 when they made their home in Mitchell, SD. While in Mitchell, Carol was a homemaker and raised their children. She also worked as a babysitter, house cleaner, at the VoTech baker and a bookkeeper for Bills Sharping Service.
Carol was a member of First Reformed Church and was involved in various church activities. She was also a member of ARC. Carol enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, baking and making mints with her son, Daniel.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, William Stainbrook, Mitchell, SD; three children, Cheryl Austin, Sioux Falls, SD, Bonnie Van Dam, Indianola, IA, Daniel Stainbrook, Mitchell, SD; six grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Dale; three sisters, Georgiabelle, Virginia and Hilma.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Life Quest or Avera Brady Rehab.
