Carol Meinke, age 60, of Huron, formerly of Mitchell, died Friday, December 18, 2009 at the Huron Regional Medical Center. Memorial services will be 10:00 AM Friday, January 29, 2010 at Will Funeral Chapel with burial at Graceland Cemetery.

Carol Jean Meinke was born on July 26, 1949 to Ervin and Klara (Kilbur) Meinke in Mitchell. Carol grew up in Mitchell, and later in Custer, a short while in Redfield, and later in Huron. She loved her care workers and her advocate, Carolyn Stahl very much. She did a lot of volunteer work. She was a member of the HRMC Auxiliary, in charge of the HRMC Auxiliary Magazine Recycling Program, Junior Achievement classroom volunteer, Huron Middle School Career Days program, Leadership Huron presenter, Relay for Life team member, Salvation Army bell ringer, SD State Fair Gate Greeter, State Gymnastics Meet score table assistant, Huron Area Center of Independence Consumer Advisory Committee, POCE Work Group Increase Responsiveness to change in a persons life, Parade of Light Committee, HACFI Fall Open House guest book registration, and Scarecrow Decorating Committee. Carols dedication to giving back to her community is an inspiration.

She is survived by three brothers; Otto (Nancy) Meinke, Longview, WA, Reinhold Meinke, Neola, IA, Dale (Doris) Meinke, Ethan, SD. One sister Ann Johnson, Mitchell, SD. Several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and great nephews

She is preceded in death by her parents.
