Carol Ann Johnston age 68, of Mitchell, SD died Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at Firesteel Healthcare Center. It was Carol's wishes that there be no service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Carol's name. Cards can be mailed to Will Funeral Chapel (210 East Green Drive, Mitchell, SD 57301) and will be forwarded to the Carol's family.

Carol Ann Johnston, daughter of Bert H. Welte and Marilyn Kelley was born November 6, 1955 in Quincy, IL. She attended St. Boniface School and was an avid sports player during her school years.

After graduation, Carol was united in marriage with Robert Johnston. The couple made their home in Cody, WY where they raised their two children, Gwendolyn and James. Carol was very proud to her many years of working at the Famous Proud Cut Saloon. After relocating to Mitchell, SD to be closer to family, Carol was employed at Perkins and made many lifelong friends until her retirement.

She was an extreme sports fan and could be found watching any sport on tv. Carol's loyalty was to the Kansas City Chiefs and the St. Louis Cardinals.

Grateful for having shared her life are her two children, Gwendolyn (Rob) Parker, Spencer, SD, James (Deanna) Johnston, Ferndale, MI; seven grandchildren, Shawn, Quenton, Brooke, Damon, Dylan, Dawson and Harley; five sisters, Martha (Russ) Phillips, Debbie Shotwell, Marilyn Peterson, Norma Peterson, Margie Peterson; two brothers Robert Welte and Steve (Melanie) Peterson; her step mother, Barbara Vandenboom as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Kathy Dutcher and Cheryl Welte and her special aunt, Helen.
