Carol Elaine Adkisson, age 93, of Mitchell, SD died Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Edgewood Memory Care in Mitchell, SD. Private family services will be held at a later date.

Carol Elaine Adkisson, daughter of Henry and Phoebe (Moore) Gerken was born May 22, 1928 in Aurora County, SD. She grew up and attended school in Stickney, graduating from Stickney High School. Carol then graduated from Yankton College with a Degree in Elementary Education. She taught for three years. She moved to California and later on to Miami, FL where she was employed with the Federal Government Small Business Administration as a private secretary until her retirement. Carol then returned to Plankinton, SD to care for her mother.

Carol was married to James A. Adkisson from 1961 to 1982.

She was an active member of the Plankinton United Methodist Church and the Plankinton VFW Auxiliary.  Carol also enjoyed doing needle work.

Survivors include her sister, Nova Sue Harrison, Portland, OR; a sister-in-law, Janet Gerken, Mitchell, SD.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers.
