Carl Lewis Estabrook, 77, died Tuesday, August 8th at his home in Mitchell after a battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, August 11, at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Letcher. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Thursday with a 7 PM prayer service at the Will Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Carl was born August 8, 1929, in Sanborn County to Arlo and Pauline (Sonne) Estabrook. Due to his family moving around in the 30s he went to eight different grade schools. He went to high school all four years in Letcher when the family settled back on the family farm at Cuthbert. He farmed and raised horses west of Letcher for 40 years. He is survived by five children: David Estabrook and wife, Ruth, Letcher; Krystal Dockrey and husband, Bill, Chicago, IL; Rebecca Thomas and husband, Duane, Cheyenne, WY; Mary Estabrook, Cheyenne, WY; Carla Estabrook, Mitchell; eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, brothers: Doyle, Letcher; Dennis, Huron, and a sister, Jean, Corpus Christi, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents.
