Brett A. Victor, age 22, of Mitchell, SD died Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at his home in Brookings, SD. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at the First Lutheran Church with a burial at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, June 30, 2014 at the Will Funeral Chapel, with a prayer service starting at 7:00 PM. Brett A. Victor, son of Dave and Angie (Herron) Victor, was born in Mitchell, SD on October 24, 1991. He attended Longfellow Grade School, Mitchell Middle School and graduated from Mitchell High School in 2010. Brett was a member of the Mitchell Kernel basketball, football and track teams. As a senior he received all ESD Conference Defensive Team in football, and was named to the 2010 State AA Basketball All-Tournament Team. Brett then attended South Dakota School of Mines in Rapid City, SD for 1 ½ years. While there he was a member of the Hardrockers basketball team. He then transferred to SDSU and studied architecture. While attending school in Brookings he enjoyed playing basketball as a member of the scrimmage team for the SDSU Women's basketball team. He enjoyed his sports, hanging out with his friends, watching movies, playing video games, sitting around bon fires, camping, jeeping, fishing, and playing with his dog. Brett always liked to have a good time and always enjoyed being around people. He made friends easily and was known for his infectious smile and sense of humor. Grateful for having shared his life are his parents, Dave and Angie Victor, Mitchell, SD; his maternal grandparents, Ron and Betty Herron, Pierre, SD; an uncle, Rich (Mary) Victor, Black Hawk, SD; two aunts, Cheryl (Tom) Gaeckle, Sioux Falls, SD and Lori (Bob) Goff, Pierre, SD; several cousins; and his golden retriever, Maggie. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Robert and Elda Victor.
