Borge Christensen age 88, of Mitchell died Saturday August 7, 2004 at his home under hospice care. Graveside services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday at Servicemens Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday at the Will Funeral Chapel. Borge Christensen was born May 16, 1916 in Viborg, SD to Nels Christian and Kirsten Marie (Anderson) Christensen. He attended school in Forestburg, SD. Borge entered the US Army on March 6, 1942 and served during World War II. He was honorably discharged on November 12, 1945. Borge was employed with Hormels from 1945 to 1978. He then lived in New Mexico from 1978 to 1980. Borge returned to South Dakota in 1980. Borge has been under hospice care since April of 2004. Borge was united in marriage with Frances Frost on October 22, 1957 in Luverne, MN. He was a member of the American Legion since 1945. Grateful for having shared his life are his children, Rick Diamond, Letcher, SD, Curt Christensen, Mitchell, Sharon (Diamond) Howard, Dexter, MO, Geraldine (Diamond) Van Thuyne, Mitchell, SD, Tom Diamond, Mitchell, SD, Jerry Diamond, Sioux Falls, SD, Vickie (Diamond) Jacobs, Tucumcari, NM; numerous grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; a brother, Bob Christensen, Kent, WA; two sisters, Harriott Norman, Burien, WA, and Edith Niehl, Spanaway, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and two sisters. In lieu of flowers memorials can be directed to the Mitchell Area Hospice.
