Bill Morgan age 75, of rural Mitchell, SD died Friday, June 9, 2017 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with burial at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with a wake service beginning at 7:00 PM.

Bill Dennis Morgan, son of William and Madeline (VanHecke) Morgan, was born June 23, 1941 at St. Joseph Hospital in Mitchell, SD. He attended school in Letcher, SD graduating in 1959. As a young boy, Bill broke Shetland ponies for the priest in Letcher. Bill's father died at an early age and he helped his mother on the family farm.  After his graduation, Bill worked at the Van Laecken Lumber Yard in Letcher. He later worked at Pepsi Cola Bottling, Montgomery Wards and Tessier's.

In 1965, Bill enlisted in the South Dakota National Guard and served there from 1966 to 1972. He was united in marriage with Carol Stange on June 26, 1965 at St. Joseph's Church in Wessington Springs, SD.

In the late 1970's Bill went into partnership with Mel Goldammer, the business was named Cut-Rate. Years later, he became sole owner of Cut-Rate and later his son, Wes joined the company and worked with him for 24 years. Bill was very proud of the family farm that he and Carol ran together with their son Pat.

He enjoyed playing basketball in high school,  spending Saturday nights dancing with Carol at Ruscan Park, hunting and attending all his kid's activities. Bill was always willing to give helpful advice to the basketball officials while sitting in the front row of the Corn Palace with his wife, Carol. Visiting with family and friends and family gatherings while enjoying a few cold ones (Coors Light). Bill always looked forward to the Saturday morning coffee crew at the shop.

He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Mitchell, SD.

Grateful for having shared his life are his eight children, Mike (Tammy) Morgan, Mitchell, SD, Pat (Karla) Morgan, Mitchell, SD, Wes (Teri) Morgan, Mitchell, SD, Scott (Stacy) Morgan, Mitchell, SD, Ronda (Heath) Koepsell, Canova, SD, Robin (Toby) Moody, Letcher, SD, Raven (Jay) Ellwein, Huron, SD, Randi (Wyatt) Haines, Brandon, SD; 28 grandchildren, Adam (Alexis Neugebauer) Morgan, Terra (Luke) Lingemann, Trevor (Kelsey) Morgan, Maddie (Jaylon Koopal) Morgan, Anthony (Jess Mueller) Morgan, Whitney (Tim) Olinger, Mitch Morgan, Patrick Morgan, Kaylee Morgan, Steele Morgan, CeCe Morgan, Cole Morgan, Connor Morgan, Payton Morgan, Morgan Koepsell, Madisen Koepsell, Kolt Koepsell, Tater Moody, Teya Moody, Trey Moody, Isabelle Ellwein,  Blake Ellwein, Myles Ellwein, Berkeley Ellwein, Walker Haines, Wakely Haines, Wheeler Haines, Warren Haines; three great grandchildren, Emerson Lingemann, Cruz Lingemann and Lane Morgan; a sister, Margaret Zoss, Yankton, SD; a brother, George (Sherry) Morgan, Mitchell, SD; two brothers-in-law, Bob (Kay) Stange, Woonsocket, SD, Bill (Nancy) Stange, Mitchell, SD; five sisters-in-law, Joyce Bowar, Lincoln, NE, Phyllis Swenson, Woonsocket, SD, Lois Edwards, Woonsocket, SD, Judy (Dick) McQueen, White Lake, SD and Ann Stange, Freeman, SD, numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol on August 22, 2010; parents; a grandson, Zachary Morgan; a sister, Erma Janssen; a brother, Patrick in infancy; an uncle, Francis VanHecke;  his in-law, Harry and Wilma Stange; seven brothers-in-law, John Janssen, Chuck Zoss, John Stange, Ducky Stange, Merle Edwards, Bill Bowar and Ed Swenson.
