Obituary

William (Bill) Pence Jamison, 62, of High Meadows near Black Hawk, SD and formerly of Mitchell, SD died Friday evening, September 30, 2005 at his home following a long battle with cancer. Bill graduated from Letcher High School and attended Yankton College. He and Doris were married in 1964 and after living in Howard, SD and St. Louis, MO, they returned to Mitchell in 1972 to help run and soon owned Woelfels Jewelry in Mitchell. They owned and operated Woelfels from 1972-2004. They also built and owned Jackpot Gambling in Mitchell. Bill and Doris summered in the Black Hills, wintered in Florida, and only since Bills illness had decided to make the Black Hills their permanent home. Bill was a creative person and often referred to as the people magnet. He along with others started Pheasant Country, LTD. He was a member of the Retail Jewelers Association, Mitchell Chamber of Commerce, South Dakota Retail of Trade, Mitchell Retailers, and High Meadows Home Owners Association. Bill loved his devoted wife Doris. They both loved their family and friends, 50s music, dancing, traveling home and abroad, and collecting antiques. Socializing with his breakfast buddies and servers in the Hills and Mitchell was a real delight for him. Bill was especially artistic and loved woodworking and tinkering with antique tractors. Bill is survived by his wife Doris Elaine (Woelfel) of Black Hawk; a son, Bradley (Donna) Jamison of Mitchell, SD; a daughter, Paige (Dave) Radke of Black Hawk, SD; 2 grandchildren: Kari and Chase Jamison of Mitchell, SD; 2 brothers: Maurice (Rose) Jamison of Black Hawk; Harley (Sharon) Jamison of Volga, SD; a sister, Gretchen (Perry) Strombeck of Rapid City, SD; many nieces and nephews, several step nieces and nephews along with hosts of wonderful friends and associates around the country. Bills parents, Harland and Sylva Jamison, his-in-laws, Fred and VonDeane Woelfel and a brother, Robert L. (Bob) preceded him in death. Memorial services will be held on Thursday evening, October 6, 2005 at the Grace United Methodist Church in Piedmont, SD. Visitation will be at 7 P.M. and services at 7:30 P.M. with Pastor Steve Trefz officiating. Additional memorial services will be on Monday, October 10, 2005 at 10:30 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Mitchell, SD with Pastor Hank Kor officiating. Refreshments will follow both services. Family and friends will continue to miss his leadership and magnetism. Bill requested that we continue to support his wife, Doris. He wanted his family, his ministers, his friends, and health care workers to know how much he appreciated all they had done for him and Doris. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials for: Grace United Methodist Church in Piedmont, SD or First United Methodist Church in Mitchell, SD.
