William Bill Hendrix, age 67 of Mitchell, died Thursday, December 9, 2010 at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls after a brave battle with cancer. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, December 14 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with burial at Graceland Cemetery in Mitchell. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Monday at Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM.
Bill was born on October 11, 1943 in Mitchell to Clarence and Blandine (Heinzmann) Hendrix. He attended school at Notre Dame High School and graduated in 1961. He attended Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell before enlisting in the US Army. He was in the Army for three years with one year in Vietnam. On August 3, 1971, he married Shirley Miiller in Mitchell. Bill and Shirley happily raised two children: Nicole and Terrence. Bill worked for Fairmont Foods, Culhanes Dairy, and Graham Tire. He then went back to school at Mitchell Technical Institute and associate degree in business and accounting. After attaining his degree he held jobs at Holiday Inn, and the Kelly Inn of Mitchell.
Grateful for sharing his life is his wife Shirley, a daughter Nicole (Tom) Gere of Pierre, and a son Terrence (Jennifer) of Cheyenne, WY. 3 grandsons: Tyler and Brady Gere, and Liam Hendrix, an aunt Lillian Weins and mother in law Sylvia Miiller and brother and sister in laws: Sheri, Darwin, and Gary Miiller.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Robert, and father in law Milen Miiller.
