Beverly Kay Carlson, age 71, of Mitchell, SD died Sunday, October 29, 2017 at her home under hospice care. Graveside services will be 3:30 PM Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at Graceland Cemetery in Mitchell, SD. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Will Funeral Chapel.

Beverly was born in Mitchell, SD and graduated from Mitchell High School and Northern State College. She retired in 2000 after a successful career as a stockbroker for Kinder Peabody and a portfolio manager for Thrivent Financial.

She spent the last 17 years living in and near Oaxaca, Mexico. Beverly established a children's library in Poblado Morelos with the assistance of Libros para Pueblos (books for villages). Bev enjoyed teaching English to the school children at the library.

Her greatest joy in life was adopting her son Francisco.

She is survived by her son, Francisco, her brother, Rolland, nephews, great nieces and great great nephew as well as close friends Liz Renn and Lorraine Hart.
