Beverley Darlene Ferrell departed this earth February 13, 2023 in Lubbock, Texas.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, June 30, 2023 at Graceland Cemetery, Mitchell, South Dakota.

Beverley Darlene Smith, was born on February 26, 1946 in Lamar, Colorado to Frances Fross and Edgar John Smith. She attended Plankinton High School and then the University of South Dakota where she graduated in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology. She completed a Master's degree in education in 1988 at the University of Oklahoma and her doctorate in education at Texas Tech University in 1996. She worked for years as a medical laboratory supervisor in numerous facilities, functioned as state health inspector, and was also an assistant professor. For relaxation, Beverley was an avid reader and quilter.

Beverley and her husband Clyde Thomas Ferrell were married on December 13, 1969, in Plankinton, South Dakota. A son, Shannon Ferrell, was born at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska in 1971.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Frances Smith, and her husband, Clyde.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Shannon Ferrell and spouse, Dr. Marion Desmarchelier, granddaughter, Harmony Y. Ferrell, and her brother, Ronald E. Smith.
